Ahh the youth of today, makes me fear for tomorrow. Some its not always about the company that matters, but who takes you there. How else was KB going to get into WRC? The impreza hasnt done very well in wrc for years.

my input on this is that as an every true athlete, you strive for more. you strive for something else, different, wanting challenges. but on the end it comes down to what you have begun with and what you always wanted to do. in his case, it is rally driving.
if you sit down with Ken Block and ask him what he wants to do more, drive for youtube videos, sign shirts and print DC logos all of his life...OR...have a chance to "move on" and try to get on the podium and being declared as a WRC winner of any of the upcomin years...

this said, i.e. Beckham (ManU who made him the "icon" he is) to move to L.A. Galaxy (million bucks a week for 5yrs), to going back to Europe, where he plays as borrowed player for Milan...what im getting to is that he is going where the soccer is...

i would also move to where better things are. i played professional sports in europe and went where the best conditions were at the moment, both sports and financial...

I'd say it's super lame after Subaru spent money on him to leave, but he also got a lot of people interested in Subaru as well

We still have Mads Østberg's Impreza WRC entry (which is actually doing fairly decently as far as I've seen) keeping Subaru WRC-active until Subaru as a company make a come back
Hope Ostberg does better this year.

It's funny, the same ricers' who had praised him and worshipped him as a false god over his grabmywanker videos. Seem to be bashing him that he had jumped ship to a rival. Get over it...

I am definitely not a Ford fan, but I do have more respect for them after this past year. They were one of the only US car companies that didn't need a bailout and that moves them up a few notches in my book.

I do feel the same way about Ford. Seriously. They should put that in their commercials. "We didn't steal your tax dollars."

if anything this is a good thing for everyone, subaru couldnt make it happen so he went else where. and with any luck this could make rally much more popular in the us.

Ken Block won't be driving for BP Ford Abu Dhabi. Jari Matti Latvala is an exceptional driver and young (24 years old as opposed to Ken Block's 42 years). Yes, Latvala has a tendency to crash, but his only driving mode is maximum attack which makes him nigh unbeatable when he keeps it on the road (just like Colin Mcrae was). Latvala finished fourth in the driver's standings for the 2009 season which is an immense achievement.

Also, WRC is a huge step up from Rally America. Ken Block will not be "pushing" Sebastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen. Doing tricks in a parking lot is impressive, but doesn't exactly mean you're better than the best Europe has to offer. Just because you own a Subaru, it doesn't make you a WRC aficionado. Ford has a much richer rally heritage than Subaru does. Ford is second only to Lancia in WRC wins with 73 (compared to Subaru's 47). As stated before, Subaru isn't in the WRC as a manufacturer team anymore, so that option wasn't there for him.

That said, it is a historic move for Ken being the first American driver in the WRC. It will be a great learning experience for him, and hopefully it will lead to more attention for the sport of rallying in North America (it would be awesome to be able to watch the events on TV instead of having to download them after they happen).

The Ford Focus RS is an incredible machine and hopefully Ken's participation in the WRC will make Ford think about releasing the Focus RS in North America.

Focus RS: 301 horsepower and 325 lb.ft of torque.

You're welcome . Ken Block will be driving for a new team backed by Monster Energy Drink and Ford.

Ken has some great marketability and his goal has always been WRC. Subie is no longer there so Ford is a great choice. Their cars are legendary and diversity is good for the health of the sport. DC has the license for Subie merch not Ken Block. And while I am a fan of his gymkhana vids and his skill level, he will definitely need time in the seat to compete with the WRC's top guys. I support his move completely as I will gladly watch him in WRC and wish him luck!

So, just to clear this up, Ford is the winningest WRC team, ever.
By joining ford, Block is taking a HUGE step forward. Considering how hard it was for block -to finish- his stages, for him to be on the Ford payroll is a huge step. To think that a subaru you drive has ANYTHING in common with a WRC beyond its body panels is daft. Ford makes a damn good rally car.

Maybe Ford will bring us the Focus RS or AWD Focus. This could be a good thing for consumers, a little pressure from Ford in the US market with a hot AWD hatch might help Subaru come out with something also.

You are on a web site that is for Subaru Impreza enthusists. So apparently you are the idiot if you can't understand people's love for brand. Maybe you should go to a Ford web site and bash Subaru. I mean does it matter what made someone buy a car in the first place it's their money, right? The videos do make the car seem fun to drive. What are your reasons for buying a car. Let me guess you probably drive a insanely jacked up 4X4 truck to make up for your lack of size in the bedroom. Now you got me stuping to your level.

Good career move. I hope he ends up competitive on the world stage... because if he's got the skills, Ford can put him on that level... unlike Subaru at this point.
