Default Pastrana/Edstrom Succeed in Argentina

Pastrana/Edstrom Succeed in Argentina
By Travis Pastrana, Subiesport Magazine

Travis Pastrana and Christian Edstrom continue to storm through the rally world. At the recent WRC round in Argentina, the pair continued to show their talent and drive by coming in a very respectable 10th in P-WRC. This, after only competing for one stage at the Rally America, Oregon Trail Rally, after their engine let go on the first Super Special. This is the second of three rounds the team will contest this year in the P-WRC.

Argentina was not without its difficulties. Pastrana struggled with road debris for the length of the rally. Water from a splash found its way into his engine causing the team to lose time. Then it was a large rock that would catapult the car across the stag route and into a berm, damaging the rear suspension. Finally, another struck rock would puncture both tires causing both Pastrana and Edstrom to effect mid-stage repairs losing the team 7 minutes and dropping the team from 8th to 10th.

"This was a real learning experience again just like at WRC Mexico," said Pastrana. "We drove at our own pace and tried to stay out of trouble but here in Argentina trouble finds you! But we really don't care where we finish, so long as we are get valuable experience while increasing our speed. It was great experience and practice for our full attack on the P-WRC next year."

Pastrana and Edstrom are supported by the same team of techs and mechanics that see them through the Rally America Championship. While this year may be a growing year, it shows that Pastrana has the talent and speed to carry him to the podium in the most competitive racing in the world.

Pastrana also brings with him his international star-power. Even if he is not on top of the podium, it is could be argued that Pastrana is the most celebrated rally driver in the western hemisphere. Stage after stage he is flooded with throngs of fans eager for an autograph or a hand shake, all of which Pastrana is eager to oblige with his signature smile.

While Pastrana and Edstrom are eager to make their mark on international rally, the X-factor is what the new car will be like. As Subaru is banking on the new platform to catapult the Pleiades badge back to the top of the WRC world. However, a new chassis could be a blessing or just another wrench thrown into the works. The world awaits with bated breath for the answer.

We just had a rally up here in central pa, it was awesome to see. Anyway, I had the opportunity for an up close look at Travis's car (along with all the rest) and it was incredible. What a machine!
