I have a '15 2.5i forester w/the 6spd manual gearbox and am really happy with it. Granted, it's only 4 weeks old, but I'm still really happy w/it. What's wrong with the 6mt in the '15 WRX?

Please name another new 4 door sedan of similar size, with similar features, with AWD, that uses regular unleaded gasoline, with at least 256 HP, that achieves better MPG, and better performance. I'm not trolling, I'm generally interested. I purchased my 2013 Legacy 3.6R Limited w/ Nav and sunroof for less than $30k plus tax(Subaru supplier discount, vehicle does not have eyesight, but everything else), and I searched long and hard for a similarly performing vehicle...and couldn't find one. For the money, for what the car has, I believe it to be in a class of it's own. PS: Three days a week, I drive 110 miles round trip to work on 55MPH roads. With the cruise set at 62MPH, I always return an actual high 26/low 27 MPG. Last edited by Notch 8; 08-22-2014 at 05:07 PM. |

What's the benefit of the 'fog light on in the corner' feature? Unless they've been improved, the factory fogs are always pretty dull. I can't imagine this being as good as a true headlight cornering headlight system.

Can Anybody explain to me why they would put a 3.6 in this car when the 2.0 of the wrx makes 10 more HP and 11 more torque... With better fuel economy?? a I missing something here? perhaps its a cheaper engine? Im not complaining here I am really trying to understand the decision.

Maybe the 3.6 NA motor is quieter? NA so no turbo lag. NA so less things to go wrong. Can also get by with 87 octane?

Have you forgotten about WRX and BRZ? They are both more performance-oriented than Legacy, and are both offered with manual transmission. |

I liked the review. It did feel somewhat like a Subaru commercial, but meh, it's a nice car with little to whine about.
As much as people like whining about manuals, this really isn't the product segment that favors manuals. Most of the market looking to buy a Legacy is not looking for a manual at all. Subaru already offers sportier products that have manuals to suit the few people that would ever buy one. None of us who really care about performance is going to buy the bigger car for it. At the end of the day we all want the smaller, lighter, nimbler car, aka Impreza or more so BRZ. Now if I were to gripe about wasting that 3.6L, I would gripe about the 3.6L not existing in other chassis like the Impreza as an option, maybe STI-esque with the engine retuned for premium fuel and making north of 300hp and paired to the competent 6-speed with DCCD. I'm a big displacement fan for anything called a sports car. I'm still to this day amazed the 3.6L didn't transition into the Forester when that thing grew in size. I can't fathom why. It's in the Outback, and they're basically the same size now, Outback a little wider and shorter in height, the Forester a little taller and narrower. If it's going to play the SUV role, make it a real one. Toss in the 3.6L with a heavy duty CVT, add coolers, and double the tow rating. |

Anyone see the roadkill episode (YouTube) where they pit their junkyard builds on a couple dirt racing formats against the new leggy? Subaru provided a 3.6R version for the race at dirtfish. Looked like a blast, even if they couldn't turn off stability control and get it to rotate!
