Any JDM Engine Supplier Recommendations?
I'm helping a buddy source and install an engine for his kid's 2005 WRX Wagon. The JDM engine route seems like the economical way to go. We want bone stock, no complications. I've contacted a few eBay sellers and the majority seem to pull the motor out of the shipping container, give it a quick blast with a pressure washer and ship it to you. They all have a warranty of some sort but I don't want to find out it's a dud after spending a couple of weekends busting my knuckles. Some say they check that compression is within spec before shipping but I don't want something on the lower end. Does anyone have any recommendations for a source for verified good JDM engines with compression results for the specific engine you're buying? The low end of the market looks to be about $800 shipped but I'd be happy to pay a few hundred more for some peace of mind.

I bought my second EJ207 through them and didn't have any issues, I also talked them down a little on the price. |

jdmracingmotors is the only place I would go through if I had to do it over again, the EJ207 I got from a local supplier had serious problems shortly after my warranty period, go figure.
Everyone I know that has a JDM 205 or 207 went through jdmracingmotors and they're still going strong after 5+ years of use. |

Jdmracingmotors
Got my jdm 205 from them, runs good, compression tested. Also a 5mt 4.44 trans. Received within 5 days of ordering. Hands down, the only place I’d buy from aside from jspecauto. |

Sellers on eBay rarely check compression. I got all my 205s from j spec auto which is a sister company of jdm racing motors. They always provided detailed videos of their compression checks and went thru 6 engines for me until I picked the best one I liked
I still have a perfectly good jdm ej205 in my garage. 155 psi across all 4 |
