Default Gouges on front rotors

Took the car to the track 2 weeks ago. After 1 session, i noticed these grooves on my front rotors. See pic. Both front rotors have this issue. What would cause this problem?

I also noticed weak inital bite now when i step on the brake pedal.

I have OEM brembo pads.

TIA

Took a closer look and they look like pad deposits...

Pads operating over their temp range, take the pads out and i’ll bet they’re cracking. OEM pads are designed for street use, not track use, hence track pads.

I'll check the pads this weekend. Is there a need to resurface the rotors though?

If you’re going to bed in new pads, then they should be measured and resurfaced if within spec.

I haven't had a set of rotors resurfaced in I don't know how long. I'm a fan of just using a Scotchbrite disk on a drill to scuff up the rotor faces. Has worked fine for me with street and track pads for years now. With that said, I've never had to contend with heavy pad deposits like that.

I can try using scotchbrite. Or maybe some metal wire brush attached to a drill and see how it goes.

A wire wheel might be too abrasive, but I dunno.
