ECS,
Have you guys every swapped a WRX engine into a Subaru XT6? I've read of a couple of guys that did it on SubaruXT.com http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11526 I have the factory service manuals for mine. I would like to use an autotranny as well. If you are interested in this idea, please reply or send me PM. I left you guys a message. Thanks! |

I purchased my car back in February of 2012 with 98k. Right when I bought it I knew I had to have the timing belt service done. I found ECS had flat rated services for maintenance. When I had the service done there wasn't too much communication as to what was going on. I picked the car up and went on my way.
Later down the road I started talking to them about maintenance and had a lot of general questions. At this point it was a different guy answering the phones and my experience went up from there; they did everything to me being extremely involved in the process of having my car worked on. The honesty and integrity that I've gotten from using their facilities for services and upgrades has been felt in every interaction. The transparency they have had with me as my car has been in has been amazing. Instead of saying "your transfer case bearings are shot here's an estimate" they brought me under the car, and showed me. I have never received service like that. Whether it's talking to their GM (guy who answers the phone) about a weird noise (that he always has an answer for) or interacting with the guys in the shop about what's going on with my car the experience has been comforting to say the least. I look forward to talking to their owner/tuner about future tuning and furthering my relationship with them. |

Necro-ing this thread.
Wow. I was super interested in possibly talking to ECS about doing a full STi swap into my 1996 Legacy Outback.. but after reading this thread, I'm not so sure. There are plenty of glowing reviews out there but you can never be too skeptical when you're playing with money that stretches into the $14,000 arena. For me, especially, because I was a victim of an extremely shady shop that robbed me of $17,000 because they promised me they could perform a supercharged Honda K24 swap into my Lotus Exige in about four months. It ended up being about a year and a half and I had to negotiate my repossession of the car and then had to spend another two years re-doing all the work myself and fixing all their f*ck-ups. Oh, and they ruined the motor and the transmission so I had to do the swap twice, essentially. My Outback is doing well at the moment, but I can see a day when I'll likely need to rebuild the motor + tranny. I could be boring and reliable and drop in a new motor + tranny myself, or do something more fun and interesting and undergo another swap if there was a proven path. I have no earthly idea why I'd want to do that given the hell I went through with my "fun" car. This addiction ruins people, apparently. All this to say, I will never EVER deal with a shop until I know, BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, that they won't f*ck me over and leave me with a giant hole in my wallet and my d*ck in my hand. |

My ECS experience
I'm 5000 miles into an STI six speed/clutch and running gear swap and I couldn't be more happy. Paul and Matt's contact and conduct throughout the hole process was both professional and educational to someone such as myself newly coming into the Subaru community. They both returned emails and phone calls when prompted and not only guided me through the process, they made me aware what should and could be done without sacrificing the street ability of my 2005 Forester XT.
As far as the negative threads I've read here.... there needs to be an understanding that you as the client are asking a specialist to do something that more often than not wasn't a factory build. You are asking said specialist to commit to a dollar figure and time frame on a project that more often than not could be the opening of Pandora's box. Case and point....Matt calls me and states that the fuel rail in my car is FUBAR and he can swap in a used unit to solve the problem. This unforeseen cost and stoppage of work isn't something to bitch about. Consider if the tech didn't bring this concern to light and sent me off down the road. YOU and YOU alone are asking for a highly specialized operation to take place. If you can't pay the asking price for said that operation... DON'T BITCH ABOUT IT, GO TRY IT YOURSELF!!! I mean...come on. The whole reason you are reaching out to a specialist is you don't want to get stranded. If it takes a week, two weeks, a whole month longer than originally agreed on....wouldn't you want it back 100% instead of 80%. Grow up and own up to what you're asking to have done. When you do, you'll not only have a cool car to kill bugs with, you'll have the ear of an amazing tuning shop that's run by a group of guys that actually give a sheet and aren't out to just take your cash. The fact that this shop has made it through the roller coaster ride our economy has been through since their opening is a testament alone that they care and are willing to go the extra mile. |

I had my 2016 WRX Limited modded and tuned by ECS earlier this year. Stage2+
Mods: Cobb SF Intake Invidia Downpipe(catted) (already had N1 catback) Grimspeed 3port EBCS They have a super busy schedule so it's hard to get booked..also verbal quotes are never reliable so get a written quote because some items/services tend to get left off. They did a great job with the tune on my car, much better power delivery, great sound, great gas mileage 25-30 on highway. Got a CEL recently and Paul over there via emailed help med figure out what was going on (dirty maf/filter) so the customer service on that end is helpful. Again though if you ask for a quote just get a typed up quote. |
