I will upload pictures in the next few days I went for a 'conservative setup' to still maintain a good ride and sit nicely-personal preference..

That’s what I thought I wanted with my old setup, but once I saw the concave Volks, I ended up changing it up. Couldn’t be happier with my setup.

Went from 18X8.5+47 Work Emotion 11R’s to 18X10+40 CE28SL’s. Tire size was bumped up from the stock 245/40/18’s to a 265/35/18.

The ride quality is the same if not better and the extra contact from the wider wheels and tires are pretty awesome.

I just followed the path of the STI- going for a subtle height 20mm all round..
I don't want to scrape on speed humps and driveways etc..

With the right camber and whatnot, you won’t scrape or have the wheels rubbing the body. I have around -2.2 degrees in the front and -2 degrees in the rear with a 2 inch drop on Tein Flex A’s. I get zero scrape or have any issues even during spirited driving on mountain roads.

No fender rolling either. The only thing I scrape is the front lip but that is all.

Once I saw your concave Volks I knew what I wanted as well. Then I saw the price . I still haven’t seen anything that looks as good to me.

I got such a good deal on mine I couldn’t pass it up! Now if NASIOC would stay consistent with our ability to post images, I wouldn’t have to go through damn Imgur.

Which wheels do you have on your car?

I still run the stock 18" Premium wheels. I really like the way they look and I see tons of wheels in this thread and the photo threads but none of them really make me want to pull out my wallet. That first pic you posted above I remember commenting on a year or so ago. It was the first time I said damn, that looks really good.

Cool man! I think I remember your comment. Just remember not to settle on wheels. Just save up and get what you want!

Man it’s hard as hell to read 300+ pages. Google search & forum search isn’t giving me the proper results, but I’m positive it’s somewhere in this massive thread. I apologize- I swear I tried to search!

2015 WRX, lowered on RCE Yellows with rear lower control arms to adjust rear camber. I want to run 18 x 9.5 (+38 offset) wheels with the largest “series” tire I can, with proper fitting width (I don’t want “stretches”). I also do not want to roll my fenders. I see most people recommend 255/35/18 tires. PA roads suck, and I want at least a 40 series tire.

Will 255/40/18 on a 18 x 9.5 +38 wheel give me what I desire with RCE yellows, no fender rolling, and no stretched look?

If not, open to suggestions. I can go for a smaller width wheel if necessary.

Appreciate any feedback!

If you’re lowered, 255/40 is tight. My 18x8.5 +55 doesn’t rub but when I put my 20mm spacers on (18x8.5 +35), the rubbed pretty good for a while and they don’t work with rally armor mudflaps either because they rub on the brackets. Also, my rear fenders are rolled and I’m lowered only .75” on coilovers .

I’ve run 275/35 on 18x10 +39 but took quite a bit of work to fit. I tried 255/40 on 18x9 +35 and they rubbed bad. If you want the most sidewall, 18x8.5 +45 and 255/40. If you want 18x9.5 +38, 255/35 won’t rub but will be slightly stretched. If you can find 18x9.5 +45, you can “probably” run 265/35 without rubbing.

Oops, I did it again. Special order specs so they’re concave. 18x9.5 +38 instead of +40.

Have you tried the 'Search this thread' option yet?

"No stretched look" is kind of hard to pin down, as opinions vary a bit. Skeeter has hinted at the only consistent way to define 'stretched' that I can even think of - wheel width relative to the width of the tire size's "measuring width" wheel.

255/40 is measured on a 9" wide wheel. That technically makes it slightly stretched on 9.5's, and slightly 'pinched' or 'squeezed' on 8.5's. You may or may not notice the difference that half an inch makes, and a tire on its measuring width wheel may already look either pinched or stretched to you.

Ignoring the appearance aspect entirely, a mild stretch like 255/40 on 9.5" gives you a slightly bigger slice of handling-related tire characteristics at a small cost in soft ride quality. A mild pinch works the other way, favoring ride quality over handling performance. I will say here that many people would be hard-pressed to notice the differences in handling between 1/2" pinched and 1/2" stretched even in back to back driving. They'd be far more likely to notice the difference in ride.

Methinks you're placing too many competing restrictions here - wheel width, tire width, tire profile, no sheetmetal mods, and of course no rubbing (duh). I'm thinking that something will have to give. You could give it all up from one of your criteria, or maybe back off a little from each of them.

Or just bail for the least expensive alternative and run 255/40's on the OE 18x8.5 +55 wheels and enjoy a slightly 'better' ride than what either the OE 245/40's on 8.5's or 255/40's on 9.5's would give you. I am not seeing the kind of emphasis on handling that would justify 9.5's.

The tire choice you end up making also matters.

Thanks, man. Good so far. Bought a house but takes forever to close here. I need my garage for car parts! Stuck running stock wheels/spacers because it’s too cold to run summer tires. The struggle is real!

Thank you for the reply. I checked, and the wheels I have been eyeing up come in 18x8.5 +44. I imagine +44 versus +45 shouldn’t make much of a difference? Would run 255/40s. The 9.5 width tire was mostly for aesthetics. I’d rather have a meatier sidewall.

Hey guys! Just signed up but I’ve always came to this forum to read and do research. I wanted to chime in on the idea of those 2015+ owners who weren’t sure about fitment. I’ve read over 200 pages on this thread, went to other site to get comparisons so I just decided to pull the trigger. 18x9.5 + 40 on 265/35/18 mp4s tires. It fits stock suspension without a doubt, will be getting coils soon, had an alignment shop by me max out the camber with the camber bolts just for now until then. Picture actually make it worse but I assure you, it actually doesn’t look that bad on stock height! But I will admit, if you plan on being stock height you can definitely go bigger. If you’re going to lower the car, shaving the rear is going to be a must. Looking for some feedback if any! Thanks guys
