Additional driveline and suspension modifications

Loaded the car up onto the dyno at VEMS a couple weeks ago. It put down 538whp/486tq @ 28psi on 93 pump gas, no methanol. This was done on a Dynomite dyno with Mustang dyno breaks (Eddy brakes.) We've just about hit the efficiency limit on what 93 octane can handle for boost, so we're going to have to pop in some methanol or race gas and see what it can do! The car revs to 8,200 RPMs on 93 octane, but we cut this dyno chart off earlier.

That's pretty incredible running that much boost and at that temp. What kind of IAT's are you running? I'd just love to cool my intake temps down more -- tougher with a TMIC, I know, but still, it must be more than just a FMIC doing the job. Any extra secrets you'd care to share? Nice numbers!

Thank you! IATs were in the 140s on back-to-back runs at redline. As far as secrets, airflow is obviously very important throughout the car. The shop should have a good dyno fan to provide enough airflow to the car under WOT. If a fan is only spinning at 30mph, and the car is running WOT at 100mph+ on the dyno, the IATs are going to spike because the car isn't seeing that 100mph worth of nice cool airflow that it would normally get on the actual road

Nice numbers, the turbo and motor are not even breaking a sweat

Time to crank it up to 40psi on E85

Thank you! The motor and turbo definitely have tons more power in store!

I wish that we had E85 here. No E85 stations anywhere in VT . My best bet is C16. I'm planning to do a C16 run sometime soon, just for the fun of it haha. Then I'll run a 50/50 water/methanol mix as an everyday thing

IAT at 1600deg?

Are you referring to IAT or EGT?

Whoops, my bad. Good catch! It's been a long few days hahaha. EGTs were at ~1600, IATs were in the 140s on back-to-back runs at redline

Its odd that with cams and that size turbo the power is rolling off so hard above 7k. I would guess the high IAT and pump gas are causing that but it seems like all the rev range is really pointless ATM.

Just for reference, and obviously different dyno/weather/elevation etc.. But this is a rod/piston only motor, stock cams, e85, 5857 turbo at 30psi that I tuned for a friend. I would look into getting some E98 shipped to you and mix your own E85 OR buy some race gas just to run it and see what you're leaving on the table!

This is a much smaller turbo with 2 psi more on better fuel, the drop in whp to 7500 RPM on pulls was far less drastic. (This is actually to 7k, not sure why the dyno tach wasn't cooperating but is what it is).

Just to be clear, Im not knocking your car or saying the car we built was better. Im just offering a comparison of a much milder build with smaller turbo making very similar power on better fuel. I have a very similar engine build to yours on my own car with the BW 366 turbo. My point is really that its well built but overbuilt for the end result. I really dont mean that to sound harsh eventho its probably going to come across that way.

Nah I hear you, it's definitely getting choked due to pump gas. We're going to pop in some methanol or use some race gas and see what it can do. We brought it up to 8200 to see how it handled it, and 93 octane isn't really doing much up there. That being said, I rarely rev it out that high on that streets. I usually shift at 7000.

Nice numbers! I wish we had E85 around here

I'm not going to get into a debate here. But why did you post a different dyno graph that shows a car making power from 4300rpm - 6700rpm and talk about this guys rev range being small?

Either way, good luck on the builds everyone. Be careful out there.

I keep saying it... For those without E 85 torco is very viable option. I add 3oz per gallon and run 10/20 in 4th @ 28 psi 11.5 afr on an fp green htz

I applaud this purist effort to raise the bar on what we can do with pump gas. Have you done anything special to avoid detonation? I posted a list of five strategies in this thread, have you used any of them to avoid pinging?

I want to see more pump gas results on bigger turbos. Hoping to upgrade to a 6466 from my current 60-1 and join the 500 pump club. (No ethanol close enough)
