Did you try the "Search This Thread" option with a couple of terms to narrow what the search would be looking for down a bit?

Hey guys! I have a 2020 WRX Premium with the 4pot brembo brakes. Are there any 17" wheels that will work with this? I live in a heavy winter area and would like to downsize from my 18"s.

The '05-07 STI BBS wheels (17x8") should clear if you can find a set. They clear the '15-17 STI brembos. You could run a 225/50R17 winter tire.

The narrower '04 BBS wheels (17x7.5") will not fit.

My car is a 2017 WRX Limited. The original wheels (Premium / Limited) have summer tires (first pic), have no issues, as expected.
For winter tires I have a set of 2015+ Base wheels (second pic).

When I mount the Base wheels there is a considerable clunk, from at least both front but it seems all four, when I hit bumps / potholes on the road.

I use the original lug nuts on both wheel sets, torqued to 85 foot pounds.

The only things I can think of are the original lug nuts are not compatible with the Base wheels or the rotors are different in some way, between Base and Limited.
Both of these theories seem unlikely.

Help me out knowledge base.

Thanks to Joe Spitz, for the pics!

Default 2013 Impreza Wagon upgrade

Bought my first Subaru last week, and am already thinking about a tires and wheels upgrade. It's a 2013 Impreza sport premium wagon, with OEM 17x7 wheels and 205/50R17 tires. Looking at 17x8 wheels with +45 offset. A 225/45R17 tire is slightly smaller in diameter, and lowers the effective final gear ratio and spins the speedometer/odometer just a bit faster. If I go to a 235/45R17, it would be a slightly larger diameter than OEM. Suggestion?

The other consideration is fitment. It looks like the 225's will have plenty of clearance.(?) Am I pushing it with 235's, with everything else being stock?

Thanks!

Default the wheel fitment thread: keep it drama free

Hello all, I have a little bit of a dilemma on my hands. Right now I’m running an 18x9 +30 offset 245/40/18 for the summer and the same size wheel but a 33 offset and same size tire for the winter on my 2018 Wrx. I want to throw some coilovers on and I’ve looked on fitment industries and looked around for someone throwing the same sizes(mostly 30 offset) to see how low they go and the degree of camber they use. Sadly not too many people post their coilover adjustment specs. Some people ran these sizes but rolled the fenders or rubbed but I’m not looking to touch the fenders. Because of this, I haven’t found any help to my issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Default 2003 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Best Tire for Rim?

I was wondering what tires that are mid-price range, but offer good grip? I have brz rims on my Subaru. So I was wondering what would be a good fit. I also have BC coil overs and adjustable rear end links if that is more useful information as to what tires I can fit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but at my level of understanding regarding internet connectivity things I think I'll pass rather than potentially screw up something else that's working correctly.

Never did get a notice of your reply . . . just another of those things I have no idea what to fix or where to look.

Sorry for the off-topic.

Please post the wheel diameter, width, and offset of the BRZ wheels - there are two different diameters, four different widths, and three different offsets. And the stock tire size for your car.

I can provide a plot comparing the two wheel/tire combinations that's more realistic than any of the online calculators.

On edit, thanks for your question, as I found a useful OE wheel reference as a result of doing a little research.

I have a set of TE37RT in 18x10 +44 with 265/35/18 tyres and they are hitting my coilovers on the 2013 wrx. Is there a way to fit them beside getting spacers? will the STI alloy lower control arm, adjustable whiteline bush and anti lift kit help to fit these wheels? Guards rolled. Thanks

How bad are they hitting? Like you can't even get the wheel & tire to mount up on the car, or just a slight rub perhaps only under hard cornering? Is it the wheel or the tire that hits, or is it both? Is it the wheel flange/tire sidewall or the tread shoulder that's involved?

For sure not with any of those parts. Other than spacers, the only way I can think of that might solve your problem would take your alignment in the wrong direction (it's related to those aftermarket "camber/crash bolts" except for being full strength where those things are closer to half-strength - I won't ever recommend the use of those aftermarket crash bolts to anybody).

I don't know anything about the 2013, but clearly +44 is the wrong offset for using 18x10's on it. Your best bet really is to use spacers that are no thicker than just barely enough to cure the problem, and install longer and stronger wheel studs so that you'll have enough lug nut thread engagement (one stud diameter's worth). Think ARP, for starters. FWIW, removing and replacing wheel studs is not a difficult job at all (tip - you don't need an impact gun and shouldn't use one for installing wheel studs anyway).

I realize that spacing the wheel outward to clear takes away from whatever sheetmetal clearance that you have. So would the approach that affects camber. If your car is lowered, you might have to raise it back up a bit to gain a little clearance to the fender sheetmetal. What I do know is that strut suspensions can tolerate a noticeable amount of wheel and tire 'poke' without rubbing if the car isn't lowered too much.

Not a Subie, but it does have a strut suspension and it does not rub at all even when driven hard on a road course. As shown, there's a very thin DIY-fabbed spacer cut from 0.025" thick aluminum sheet. Still doesn't rub after the front of the car was lowered about half an inch. The fenders are not modified at all, and there is less than 1/16" clearance to the strut.

The inner lip of the front wheels touched the the ring locker of the coilovers. I maxed out the coilovers' camber and camber bolt but they still hit the coilovers. As you said using spacers is the only way for these wheels to fit the car or sell them . I love the red color on white car. Thanks for your help mate!

have just done sedan fenders and sti alloy LCAs on an 04 wagon. very uneducated when it comes to wheels.

The track is now 10mm wider at the front on each side. I would like to use a wider (or different offset) in the rear so the tracks match. I also want to fill out the guards, the front guards are wider than the rears obviously so am just a bit confused where to start

any tips?

I've been reading through the forum for over an hour and cannot find a straight answer online anywhere. Looking for the best set up for a 2010 STI hatch with stock suspension and without rolling or pull fenders. Im looking at 18x9.5 +30 on 240/35 (if i cant use my current 245/40). Can anyone chime in on this ?
According to other sources 08-10 is different from 11+ in regard to fitment and i have not been able to find anything on 2010 specifically

I don't think a 245/35-18 is a big enough tire in terms of load capacity . . . too many load index numbers smaller than the OE 245/40-18 to realistically recover by inflating them higher than the pressure shown on the car's tire inflation placard.

9.5" is within the tire industry's acceptable range of wheel widths for either of those sizes, so the 245/40 would be OK in that respect. But I don't know anything about how much room there is in a 2010's wheel well, so I'm afraid I'm not able to be of much help as far as fitment & offset is concerned.
