I bought an all OEM, 4 door, brand new from dealer, showroom floor, and warrantied 400+hp 6MT for less than that, but it wasn't an STi. --kC |

Definitely need to upgrade all of your mounts before you start really pushing on HP.

Interesting perspective. I'm new here, coming from a 2017 BMW M3 6MT which has 400 whp stock and RWD, I guess I never thought about it that way. I'm currently looking to replace it with a 2020 STI with 400 wheel build in mind, but after reading the original post, I think my goals will be a little more modest. My M3 is much too fast for the street, and that's with me constantly battling wheel spin. When it hooks, especially in 1st or 2nd, it's legitimately scary if you're not paying attention. Now I'm starting to think 350 whp with a nice flat torque curve to redline will be plenty with the AWD.

hey guys i am new to the Subaru world, I am doing my best sifting through threads, comments, youtube videos and articles to find information. I just bought a 2011 wrx hatch with 33k. 400hp is more than I am looking for I am curious however to know about how much power can i expect with a catback exhaust, catted downpipe, intake and a good tune with 93 octane. That's really as far as i am willing to go at this point, I don't want to sacrifice reliability. I know each car is different even another 11 wrx and every dyno is different so I don't expect an exact number, just an estimate. thanks!

This has been an interesting thread. Especially starting with the OP post. It is interesting, because you can get in very deep very fast if you are not careful. I will plainly admit to being a Subi Newbie, but not a newbie to tuning import cars. I'm on my 2nd subie...a 2017 STI....awaiting a new 2020 STI when they start building them again (ordered from the factory). I came from a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD, which got so modded that it became an issue a day. It was not only my daily, it was my only car. At the end on the day, I think I had 20k in mods, maybe more with all the supporting mods for a 61 pound/min turbo. It gets crazy fast.

Downpipe
So I have a 2017 STI, parts ordered so far. AP V3, up-pipe w/ dump tube and Tial external waste gate. I currently have a cattless DP, and SRS CB exhaust thinking about going with the divorced grimmspeed catted DP I am not sure. Also have cold air intake. My question I guess is what can I put on without a pro-tune. I put on the catless DP for a few days just to play around and the O2 sensor would go off randomly so I put the stock DP back on if I wanted to go back to the cattless will I run the risk of blowing up my motor? I am only making 19.1 PSI with the cold air intake stage one map and CB exhaust. This is my first STI I am new to the game so if these are dumb questions I understand.
