Default 02 WRX A/c charging specifications chart

Good morning all

I have a 2002 wrx 2.0 turbo sedan model

I have searched and cannot find a chart that tells you the psi at specific ambient temperatures that you need to correctly charge your a/c system. I had my system evacuated so I could put a new compressor on and replace the o rings and replace expansion valve. I have a vacuum pump and gauges to pull vacuum and charge and have my pag oil etc.. I know on the car the blue label outlines 16-19 ounces of r134a but I don’t know to what psi. It’s about 60° here now rising to around 70° today and I want to do this right. I forgot to ask the shop that evacuated the system about the psi while I was there, and they are closed til Monday. Any help is appreciated. Please let me know.

I see this post has been here a few months, so I hope you figured something out.

While there is theoretically a certain amount of R-134a added, really any A/C system using R-134a will need about the same amount of pressure to operate correctly because the gas is the same. It will need to be a particular pressure to absorb heat and a particular pressure to reject it.

There are pressure gauge/refill hoses sold at auto parts store or the auto parts section of department stores like Walmart. I had no issues just adding a bit of refrigerant until the needle was in the green section (25-50PSI on the gauge I got). I just went on the conservative side of good, say 30-35PSI and things went fine. These gauges connect to the LOW pressure side.

As to ambient temperature, probably around 70ºF is good, but you fill the system with the A/C running, which should make the low-pressure side much more stable temperature-wise. You can always add a bit more, but it's hard to add less.

Just saw this thread:
https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2029112

From the thread: "add it to low pressure port with AC turned on to MAX."

Then: "45-55 psi was pressure reading recommended for 90 degree weather (refer to label on the can as pressure varies depending on ambient temperature)."

Not all cans say but there's another datapoint.
