Angel at Horsepower Techs has a pretty nice bagged STI. May be worth talking to him.

Thanks for the recommendations! After driving around michigan for almost 5 years and destroying my bumper countless times I want something more comfortable and a higher ride height.

I would not hesitate to have Hot Rod Shop do anything to any of my cars, Jamie really takes pride in his shop and his work.

Downriver... no dealers?
Where do you get your car serviced? My 2015 WRX has that filter that most generic places dont carry. Advice? Use one of the Dealers north of Detroit?

Hello all,
I’m looking into throwing an accessport, Phatbotti tune, and a catted J-pipe on my 2018 WRX but I have some concerns over how the dealers will react with these if i bring my car in. I have the 100,000 mile warranty and I’m currently at 12,500 miles and I’m itching to throw a tune on but I’m not sure if its worth the risk. Ive spoken to a couple people and there really isnt a trend of what they will do. One guy I know went to Lafontaine and he has left his AP in his car with his tune on and no one has said anything to him everytime he goes but others are saying they will question you. I purchased my car from Suburban and I would most likely go there but my closest dealer is Lafontaine. When I called both to ask what they would do if I brought my car in and they both said they would void out my warranty and as far as I know they can’t and all they can do is deny service if they find that the tune or aftermarket part added caused the issue. |

That entire dealer is trash and its 3 miles from my house. I would leave it stock and enjoy your warranty , Get some nice shocks or tires to enjoy driving the car more. |

Good morning, friends.
2017 WRX Limited. Cobb Big SF, Grimmspeed Catless J Pipe, Invidia R400 Turboback, Cobb Flex Fuel kit, TGV/EGR delets. I had a CEL come on in the beginning of January with a p0171 error. I had a lot of stressful things going on in my life at the time so without thinking much I took the car to Seller's and they recommended swapping out the cam head gear. I told them to go ahead and then they called back and said the CEL was still on, and they recommended swapping out the ECU. I had a moment of clarity and decided to have the BCP guys check out the car since it was computer related (which I should have done in the first place but I wasn't thinking clearly). BCP guys checked the car out, checked all the hose and connections, and said yeah, swap the ECU. So I went back to Seller's and they swapped out the ECU. Still have CEL and same p0171 code (system too lean). Car idles pretty rough (not as bad as before the ECU swap, at that time the car was dying at stop lights). Car loses power/acceleration at high RPM's. Admittedly I haven't tested this much and have been driving like a grandma while I figure this all out. After some research I see this code can prove to be a real pain in the Heinekin (see here: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=475620). Tomorrow I plan to clean the MAF sensor and air filter to see if that helps. Anyone else have experience with this and can suggest other things to try/research? Thanks y'all. |

I assume you have an Accessport. How do the fuel trims look? Any indication you've got a big vacuum leak? Though, I'd assume the techs at either BCP or Sellers would have checked for leaks first thing, assuming you paid them to do so. Either invoice have a boost leak/smoke test listed?
If you have a wideband - do the wideband and factory O2 sensor readings match? Can't imagine someone would have tuned the car for flex fuel without a wideband... |

I will definitely check the fuel trims on the AP this weekend. I do not have a wideband, unfortunately. Is there a way I can monitor the current O2 sensor without one? Thanks so much! |

Yep, you can do that on the AP as well. Who tuned the car? Also, after the ECU was replaced, I assume your tune was flashed to the new one?

BCP did the tune. I have the tune saved on my AP so the first thing I did after picking up the car after the ECU swap was flash my custom tune.

Cleaned the MAF sensor and the air filter in the Big SF. Car runs slightly better and idles slightly better, but something is still off.
Trying to figure out which front/upstream Oxygen sensor to buy to replace whatever is in there currently. I think this one should work: https://www.autozone.com/engine-mana...20_18264_97999 |

I had a buddy with similar issues of poorly running car but I don't know off hand if he had the CEL. He cleaned the MAF and ran slightly better, he than disconnected the MAF and it started to purrrr like a kitten. was not driveable disconnected but narrowed the issue to MAF. Try disconnecting the MAF to see if it runs better.

Replaced the front oxygen sensor on Monday. When I took out the old one I felt pretty confident that this could be the issue, seeing as though it looked like a pizza left in the oven overnight after passing out drunk. Fired the car up and i thought i heard it sounding more healthy, but after about 10 minutes when it got down to to a regular idle it was super rough again. Taking it to a place in Berkley next week for a smoke test. The boost is so weak there has to be a post leak. |
