Default Multiple Misfires after Timing Belt Done

Hey Subie Community,

Been a stalker here for a long time but now im banging my head against an issue that is beyond my understanding.

I purchased a 2011 WRX running e85 and a bunch of other mods with a tune on it, from the original owner, but since I bought it from the second owner, he has no clue about anything.

Was getting a p0018 crank to cam timing difference code with random misfires on 2 and 4. I looked at the timing and it looked like it jumped a tooth.

Went ahead and replaced timing belt, cam seals, and all idlers and thermostat. After putting it together it was running even rougher and i noticed i was off a tooth. Redid the job and now everything lines up perfectly, ive spun the crank many times to verify.

Now im getting issues with all cylinders misfiring (mostly 2 and 4)and very rich AFR at 11 at idle. Wont really drive without bogging and major misfiring if RPM'd at all. I swapped spark plugs hoping that was the issue and the coil packs were swapped before purchasing.

Still having issues and getting carbon fouling on the plugs themselves. I datalogged at idle and have found major differences in the VVT advancing angle where the left side is at 80-90 angle and the right side is at 4-5 angle. I thought that in neutral the vvt should not be advancing. Also the OCV duty cycles are the same for both sides at 9.41 percent. This is all at idle in neural with some RPMing. The car is still tuned but I am thinking of setting it back to stock to troubleshoot better and take one less this out of the equation.

I know its alot of information, thank you for taking your time and going over it. Ill post my data logs

I would pull the cam gears back off and see if you didn't align the dowel pin on the cam inside the cam gear. I've seen this twice before where the dowel pin wasn't in the hole it's supposed to be.

The gears can get damaged multiple ways, pull one and look down the barrel. Mine were bad from installation, when tightened they “mushed” the metal into the next hole, elongating the dowel hole and almost closing an oil port
