The issue is software ... tuners can no longer use the AccessTuner software to modify these values. as I understand, open source such as RomRaider with a Tactrix cable can still modify these values.

I think you may be thinking of Standalone which yea, like me here in NY, is not an option due to emissions testing
Nope I'm definitely not mixing up os and stand-alone.

I've heard conflicting reports on what you are describing. With emissions/smog being more difficult or impossible to pass with current OS implementations, which obviously varies based on MY. Not to mention open source sucks to tune. Hence why no good tuners really support it.

Hmm, so far I havent heard any issues with open source being any different than using an acessport, just different software etc, ill have to look into that.

Anyway, we will see ... Open source was the only option before things like AcessTuner and Ecutec. Now that this speed bump was introduced, I have no doubt that people will perfect the open source route.

Or everyone will just move to tesla swapping everyting

i meant, i don't know why folks don't realize they can go OS tuned (which still has the capability to turn off CELs for emissions/smog), then just use the AP they have for monitoring as most of us already do with the AP.

You'd have to have the AP married to use it to monitor.

correct - and can't you marry the AP to the car even if it has an OS tune - just for monitoring purposes? I was under the impression you could

If you use the AP, nothing from OS will be applied. To log a "stock" car with the AP, you still marry it and run their "stock" tune.

Question Rotated Setup on Cobb Still Possible?

Is it still possible to go with a rotated build using Cobb tuning software? I have heard speed density is still an option, but I’m not sure how much emissions things like the cats, tgv deletes, etc. hold the car back at say 500 + hp. Currently I can’t touch the tune on my car because Im running a catless DP, but I’m considering switching to a catted one in the future.

Would it be as simple as removing the motor and leaving it plugged in on newer models?

"The Interior & Exterior Modification & Care forum on NASIOC is for discussion about body kits, wings, lips, side skirts, seats, steering wheels, and other interior, or exterior bits, in regard to their installation or maintenance."

You guys realize there's a whole bunch of sub-forums on NASIOC, right, and that those sub-forums are tailored to different areas of discussion, right? Why are you posting these questions in the non-technical forum that is devoted to dress-up mods?

So did it works for you? I needed to download a Base map onto the AP but my AP hasn't be updated since 2017. I'm afraid that after the update I would not be able to flash the ecu with a old map that was not "compliant" before the green speed. could you or someone confirm it will still work.

Your "good tuners" only like the AP so they can lock the tunes so you can't share them with anyone else, or open it to see what's actually in it..

With open source I could "buy a tune" and then give it to you, or even sell it to you..
Piracy.. Kinda..

Otherwise Opensource will do everything an AP can as far as tuning and flashing..

Tuning is not some kind of magic..
The biggest part is UNDERSTANDING how an engine works, how boost works, how sensors work, etc..

Oh yeah..
Opensource does flex fuel too.. Nothin special about the sensor used.. Heck you could use basically any flex fuel sensor from ford to Honda and it would work..

Understand how the sensor works, understand how sensor scaling works, understand how alcohol carries less specific energy but is higher octane***8230; Tune it in..

Can a tune that was written by a tuner before the Cobb green speed update be altered if it has things like cat deletes? Or does the green speed update apply to all tune revisions too?

Tune revision equals new tune so the green speed update will apply to the revisions. If you have since removed a cat and are trying to tune for it you will get a CEL
