Yeah. I mean, this is my first aftermarket barrel, so wasn't sure if that's normal or not. It's a Lothar Walther, which is pretty well known. They also have an 18" 17HMR, but that would be an awfully long 18" if it was mixed up?
I haven't shot it yet, and did email them, so gonna wait and see what they say first.

Bull barrels are colder by nature.

I recently bought a second Glock, after having 1 handgun for the last 22 years. I've had an American Security lockbox for most of that time, which is functioning flawlessly still, great box. But I wanted one to keep in my trunk, for transport to and from work. I ended up buying a Vaultek VE10, after reading a bunch of reviews. I'm impressed. It has everything you need in the package, including a large rechargeable 18650 battery (and the box has a micro-usb charging port). Construction seems great, the keys light up when you touch them, the lid pops open with authority when you enter the code, and the light inside is bright. It has a cable tether, as well. I like the compact size (I had to put another piece of foam from my Glock box in there so the weapon isn't sliding around inside).
I didn't see the need for bluetooth/wifi/biometric junk, and trust this more (and regardless, my mechanical box is at home for bump in the night needs, this is just for non-critical purposes). It seems like it's about perfect for bedside use. Easily worth the $140, IMO. |

My uncle passed away in AZ and willed me his firearms. I have been calling FLL's in the Phoenix area. There are approximately 33 firearms and a lot of ammo. Most of them are telling me if it were them, they would fly out and drive them back. They are also saying if I went the FLL way, it would be $3,000 plus on their end to ship them. What's your thought?

Most FFLs charge $20 or so per gun, not including the shipping costs... It would be expensive.

I'd want to be able to prove that they were legally my guns when I got pulled over in Nebraska.

Does the State require each firearm go thru an FFL? If so, that sucks. Call some local shops and see if they'll workout a deal with you?

i agree, will be much cheaper, and more secure to just go get them and drive them back yourself.

Due to the current prevailing political winds, I had my trust amended, and will hopefully be able to complete an ATF Form 1 and 5320.23 soon.

I watched that earlier... I've never heard of a SLAP round until now.

That is correct. And the easiest way to measure it is to close the bolt and drop a thin wooden dowel down the barrel until it touches the breech face, make a mark on the dowel where the barrel ends, pull out the dowel and measure it.

Picked up a trusty sport 2 today. Been wanting one for a while, this is the first AR I've ever owned in the 9 years or so that I've been a gun owner so I'm gonna keep it somewhat budget minded and figure out what works for me before I go crazy on it. I actually kind of like the a2 front post so I might keep this one that way instead of messing around with a low profile gas block and pick up a higher end AR later on unless the current political environment makes me pick one up sooner. This one came with the magpul m-lok handguard but I'm thinking of swapping it out for a drop in railed handguard with the a2 cutout that will allow me to keep the front post. Got it home and swapped the ugly factory stock for a magpul one, and threw a vortex sparc 2 on it that I picked up for cheap in pretty much new condition. I'll probably take it off and zero it in with iron sights first then cowitness the red dot with the front sight after. I really like how it looks and feels now. If only ammo would go back down to pre-craziness pricing now. |

Also forgot to ask, what's the general consensus on rock island 1911's here? I got one in a trade this past weekend and it feels great, but I'm a total 1911 noob, I noticed the trigger is really light and the finish doesn't seem like it'll hold up to too much abuse but it otherwise seems like a decent shooter. I had a fun time field stripping it and learning how to put it back together  a little more involved than any of my polymer handguns but it seems like I got it down by now. Won't get a chance to shoot it til Friday but overall it seems like a decent gun. I wish it came with more than 1 mag though.

Meh, in that setup, I'd leave it. Full float handguard/ rails are nice, but you're really paying for the look unless you're running a PEQ or something. Spend they money on a few mags and learning the platform.

Yeah I'll probably keep it this way for a while, although the tacticool fact of a quad rail is tempting (I know, I know) I stocked up on pmags when I bought it so I'm good on those, I could definitely use more ammo though I feel like I don't have enough. |
