I had a pic to post, but imgur is giving me fits lately so no go. Long story short, it's nice to see the comforting glow of your night sights after fishing a G19 out of your storage ottoman, after you fell asleep on the couch but were awoken by loudmouth idiots outside.

My Polymer80 G17 initial assembly is done. The initial trimming and drilling came out great. The front locking block fits great (which is something I had issues with on the previous G17 I made) and the rear rails line up perfectly so the Brownells slide action is like butter ... when the connector isn't installed.

Not sure what the deal is for sure but at first the P80-branded connector was sprung out from the P80 trigger housing too far and was dragging HARD on the slide and the trigger wouldn't reset. The connector was removed and tweaked ever so slightly in but now the trigger reset is mushy but there's still drag on the slide. A new genuine Glock connector has been ordered so we'll see how that works. Replacing the trigger housing with a Glock part will be next if necessary, but then I'm getting away from any cost savings from using aftermarket parts to begin with.

Only other problem is the Brownells guide rod/spring seems to have a slightly larger diameter and drags on everything making it sound like an old rusty screen door, a noise I hate. A Glock part may be needed to fix that too, unfortunately.

Beyond that, most of the Polymer80 frame parts and especially the Brownells slide parts are surprisingly fine. They aren't rated very highly on Brownells' site but they are serviceable to complete a project like this.

I am going to go ahead and give myself a cool starry bra on that...sounded a lot better in my head than how it came out.

I have not dealt with any Polymer80 frames but I hope you get it sorted. It's not fun dealing with a gun that won't run.

The factory 12-round mag with extension or the Magpul 12-round mag should suit you well. I only carry factory mags but people have had mixed results with both, more notably with Magpul mags. I have Magpul mags but have not experienced issues. I don't give them a ton of range time anymore so take my opinion for what it's worth.

I will say I definitely think the 26 is one of the best carry guns, ever.

I clicked the link and won't fault your choice and hope it doesn't give you any issues. What is your intended purpose for it?

Appreciate it. What issues are there with magpul? I recently switched to magpul for my g19, and they're pretty great so far, no issues over a couple hundred rounds (fwiw).

Today is actually my first day carrying it, and I take back everything I said, lol. It's not that much smaller, but it wears way more comfortably. So good. It actually shoots better, but my g19 is from 1998, I'm sure spring technology has progressed a lot.

Polymer80s work best with stock Glock parts, especially triggers and connectors in my experience.

Man, I don't have personal experience...just people reporting range malfunctions. My few range examples have been perfect. I know that nets you nothing...But I personally would never carry with anything other than factory mags.

Funny, I'm not a fan of oem glock mags, had too many develop stupid issues. I'll take my chances I think.

Agreed. The first one I built was a G19 with Glock guts and it all worked well from the get-go. Second one was a G17 from 80PBuilder with their aftermarket parts and that one, while it worked fine eventually was a bit rough at first and made the same ' old metal screen door' sound. This one is another step worse with the connector issue. But if these things fell together without issues, what fun would that be?

And the OEM Glock connector fixed it. It isn't perfect but it's WAY better then it was and it actually functions and resets properly now.

When I ran 26's for EDC, definitely the Pearce +0 grip extensions. They are fantastic and don't have to worry about reliablity. I'd carry the factory 12 round mag with extension for my backup mag on the belt.

Really? First time hearing that. Is that with 10-round mags that would otherwise have higher capacity? I have heard of issues with those.

Glad you got it sorted.

Fortunately I have no issue with the short grip of the 26 and wrapping my pinky underneath. I know a lot of people do not care for that.

The issues were with high caps. They split, or bowed out, causing misfeeds and not dropping properly.

I'll try the pearce extension, thanks Pre!

LW 17HMR barrel finally arrived for the CZ, yay! About the only manufacturer that was even making anything.

The specs say 20", but measures 19.5 on a table outside of the rifle, from the absolute end to end. I've read that the measurements are actually supposed to be from when it's installed and the bolt is closed.

I was just kinda bummed taking the 20.5" out, and noticing it's 1.25" shorter.

Also this is 22 vs 17, I don't know if that would affect the official measurement.

It's threaded, too, so I need a muzzle device, 1/2-28 (no cans). Found one that came pretty highly recommended and is super cheap vs most others, but not after getting it mounted.

https://harrellsprec.com/index.php/p.../muzzle-brakes

Is it normal to require machining of these kinda brakes? It ain't cheap after needing an hour or two of shop time.

Pics for pics sake (omg what the hell is nasioc hosting doing lol)

I believe the ATF measures barrel length from the bolt face to the muzzle.

I took my completed Polymer80 to the range on Sunday. 100 rounds without a hiccup. The transplanted Holosun 407A didn't even need to be adjusted. Only real issue is that the trigger pull feels like 7-8 pounds for some reason but is crisp enough to not be a problem. I was actually shooting it better than my M&P which made me fall a bit more out of love with it.

+1 for Pearce grip ext. I have it on all of my short Shield mags.
