Decently regarded speakers, just depends on the price and if you like the sound.

Doesn't seem like a horrible price if condition is good.

Tried searching ebay for comparables sold and I think I found 1 that sold for $400, lost the page and can't seem to find it now. But I'm not an ebay pro by any means, ha.

Vandersteen are good speakers. You can probably get more accurate standmount modern speakers for similar monies. Something well engineered with modern methods but cheaply built.

However for nicely built floor standers made in the USA, 300$ seems reasonable. The socks come off so you can see the driveres. Make sure the surrounds and tweeters are in good shape.

You can find similar vintage klipsch KG series for about the same money if you like something a bit more lively. Hadnt heard any vandersteens in many years but they have a reputation for being a bit laid back (not a bad thing in my mind).

Visio 55in oled was on sale for $1k. Picture quality is decent.

Having issues getting 4k 60hz HDR to work from my 1050ti though
4k 30hz hdr works

Picked up the Starke Sound AD4.320 and got it added to my setup running my fronts in bridged mode. Pretty happy with it, definitely cleaned things up when pursuing higher volumes. Downside is I've now got a ground loop hum where I've ordered a bunch of stuff to resolve.

AVR is "double insulated" so has no actual ground, amplifier has a ground. Even with all inputs removed from the AVR I still get the hum. I've got a jensen isolation transformer on order that I plan to utilize between the AVR and the amplifier which should resolve things but I guess I'll find out.

Did you try a different power cord or try an outlet on a different breaker circuit? Are you using a power conditioner?

i don't have any extra compatible power cords laying around. I'm not using a power conditioner, just a PDU because most conditioners are smoke and mirrors. I am also not using a surge suppressor because I already have a whole-house suppressor.

Hum persists if I use different outlets and bypass the PDU.

Hum persists if I remove all sources but does quiet from 40db to 30db or so if I remove the cable box.

Hum goes away if I unplug the AVR from power.

Hum goes away if I use a cheater plug on the new amplifier. (this is unsafe, but I'm currently running like this until the rest of the possible fixes are delivered.)

Hum persists if I ground the amp chassis to the receiver chassis with some spare 12awg copper speaker wire.

I have on order:

A Humx plug solved my ground loop hum.

https://www.amazon.com/Ebtech-Hum-Pl...s%2C240&sr=8-2

Was $25 cheaper 4 years ago when I got mine. And it's only good for devices up to 6A.

Through my research over the weekend I was reading hundreds of pages of findings by the Audio Engineering Society. Not only does the Hum-x not have sufficient amperage to support my amplifier, it isn't UL listed and is an inherently unsafe design. It really isn't much better than using a cheater plug.

I don't play this often because it's 2 discs at 45rpm, which means getting up to flip sides or change records every 10 minutes. Worth it though.

For anyone who has a wired whole house audio setup, this is worth checking out:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...em/description

I jumped on backing one along with a zone extender because I have 8 zones in my house. This is something I've been looking for since I moved in here. Right now there is just the typical zone switch and its an all or nothing kinda deal as far as audio source. It will be nice to be able to pick a different source per zone or group of zones (up to 4 different sources). Also having a dedicated amp per zone will be nice as well.

Love em, they'll last me quite a long time. I'd love a big ass pair of old Tannoy speakers, but that's not realistic for another 10 years or so.

Yeah I’m not sure I “believe” my conditioners are providing better sound, but I do utilize them for power distribution and surge protection, though I too have a whole house surge protector installed as well.

Hopefully your new stuffs will solve it. A buddy of mine runs one of these to solve a hum issue he had:

Picked up those Monitor Audio Silver 500's a few months ago, they're ridiculous. Got a copy of Moby - Play on vinyl the other day and Body Rock has some ass rumbling bass in it. Can't play that one without the neighbors getting pissed.

Gave my old standmount Deftechs and 8" sub to a friend for his basement/office turntable system.
