Other than some of the businesses that relied heavily on international tourists, things are pretty much back to normal. I think people realise the initial lock-down was needed. I'd like to think people would be prepared to do it again if required, but it will be tough. Seeing the high number of deaths in other countries would hopefully convince people to comply.

You guys spend heavily on travel abroad. I read an article where the people in power are courting the same travelers to spend that same money locally during the travel lockdown. Hopefully that will work out.
I don't know what could be more convincing that the number of dead people in the US and the EU. Just the US alone accounts for filling up Eden Park eight times. |

Similar to here. We get the odd outbreak but Australians tend to be a reasonable bunch and realize the good of working through the lock downs that stop the virus in its tracks. We do all the things that detractors in the US scream don't work and then go back to a reasonably normal life once they have actually worked. I just wish they would hurry up and start the vaccine roll out here whilst the going is good. |

Saw a report today. Worldwide commercial air travel ended December at 50% of its levels for the same period a year prior.
Private jet flights are only down 3% from the same period a year ago. And the bulk of those flights are leisure travel. |

********. As I said THE WHOLE ****ING TIME, and all studies and evidence prior to 2020 stated. General lockdowns are NOT recommended because they don't work. |

Over 9 million people die every year around the world because of starvation that has a simple cure - food. Don't pretend like you give a **** about other people, because you don't. It's only a crisis when Americans are dying and problems are on your door step.

All it takes is the guy behind me in security to have it, breathing down my neck while we wait to go through the TSA scanner, because he's one of those "MASKS DON'T WORK" morons, and then who knows? The guy sitting next to me in coach for two hours and I could both wear our masks, I'm sure that's got to be better than if neither of us did, but wouldn't it be better for him, and for everyone he's near wherever he's going, if I wasn't even there because I took the gulfstream instead? |

They have been keeping people in LA inside for going on 10 months now. It is obviously not working. When you have 6 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment it seems to transmit very easily.

It's a shock that nobody trotted out the "if you aren't doing anything about <insert problem here>, you aren't allowed to be concerned about COVID" argument any time in the past 11 months.

As long as your whole vacation has the same private jet approach, no crowds and minimal mixing the locals and/or crowds, you're probably right. |

Global starvation is something we should all be ashamed of and work to resolve, maybe don't assume everyone else is a selfish ******* based on your own limited experience. |

Just nitpicking here... but I believe you mean 1 and 0, 0 and 1, respectively. 1 for 0 is impossible.

Define starve. We still have starving people and a lot of people without access to fresh, healthy and affordable food.

Yep! We had 3 decent vacations last year. Everyone would self quarantine for 2 weeks before vacation. Then drive to the vacation local. Clean on the way in to the venue (usually a beach house or rental cabin) clean periodically. Minimal contact with anyone outside of our group, 1-2 dedicated shoppers for the group with good cleaning protocols. We usually had a stretch of the beach to ourselves... we’re we “lucky”? Well, yes we were lucky that we had the resources to do this and be able to take vacations at all. |

If memory serves, the line for the foodbank here in the DFW metroplex was over 5 miles long in mid April.

OK, I just got a weird email. I was invited to schedule a vaccine appointment through VAMS. They seem to think I'm a healthcare provider. I'm tempted.
VAMS seems to be a real thing BTW. It's the CDC's scheduling system and it looks like several states are using it to manage vaccination. |
