Agreed on that point for sure. I expect that kind of stuff with Benz or something (which of course is why you lease it). A Ford should just work for many years

Had all the issues we've had over the nearly 2 years of ownership not happened, I highly doubt that we'd even consider a trade. It's been entirely a reaction to yet another issue with it. I'm going to find all the documentation that I have for this car later and post up all the issues. Which for a vehicle with only 26k on it, it should have this many issues.
So why trade it in on another Ford product that has a good possibility of putting you in the same scenario?

So tonight wife sent a link to an XLT
explorer at the Gerald auto group that she wanted to go look at tonight. I said she’d hate it and not worth the time to drive up there tonight and look at. We had a bunch of back and forth via text about what to do. She swore that we bought an aftermarket warranty, I know we bought the maintenance plan and the wheel plan, but I couldn’t remember if we got the warranty or not. So I dig out paperwork and here’s what we found:

We did purchase a 72 month/100k Ford Extended Warranty with the maintenance and wheel plan. So given that we have some piece of mind for the next 75k until we hit 100k on this Edge ST, now we’re both ok with keeping it for the next few years. Now, I have only the invoice for the 72/100k, I need to get the particulars about the plan to really be comfortable putting this whole situation to bed. I called the # we found on the Ford app and called for more info on our warranty, they gave us the runaround and said to contact the Ford dealer we purchased it at.

Will be talking to the guys at Ford next week when I take the car in for the camera issue and try to get clarification on the warranty.

Its a waste of a hard pull on the credit report for the interest on $900.

I already had a card at the tire shop from years ago, it had a 0 balance before I got the tires. We keep this one since tires are consumables.

So, dropped the Edge ST off at the dealership this morning to have the camera looked at.

Was asking the service guy if there have been alot of software issues since this is the 2nd time in under a year that we've had camera, and he mentioned that there's a recall for 2020 Edge's on the camera itself.

Will wait and see what he says, we're an early build since we purchased in March 2019:

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...0and%20Transit.

Quote:
Ford announced today that it will recall 620,246 vehicles built in U.S. assembly plants between October and November 2019 and May to June 2020. All are 2020 models. The problem is a malfunctioning rearview camera that could leave a blank screen or a distorted image. Ford said it will replace the cameras and will start notifying dealers and customers on November 7.

Edge ST is done at the dealer, they see an Electrical Fault in the camera, all the wires and connections look fine, so it's not the same issue as the recall.

Thank god for the warranty/extended warranty!

That's the one more disconcerting part of the Genesis warranty, electronics are only covered for 3 years.

That's relatively common if you don't buy an ESP that wraps around (I got mine cheap, just over $1k for 5 years 100k).

That said, if it makes you feel better, all my electronics are now 5 years old and I've had no faults or errors in that time.

Closest was the multi function dial (headlight/turn signal) which is covered under the 5 year/100k anyway, and bc of a known fault has now been extended to 10 year/unlimited.

Was replaced under warranty.

That's how my Kia factory warranty is structured

10 yr/100k - engine/trans
5 yr/50k - everything not electronics or powertrain
3yr/36k - electronics

There's a lot of tech in my car hence why I paid extra for the 10yr/100k bumper to bumper warranty

I know, just griping I perhaps should have asked about the price of an extended warranty.

The downside of tech is, in 5 years it starts looking pretty dated.

Solution: Buy a Lexus since it is already out of date

Can you still get a cassette player in a Lexus?

I did a search on cars.com for the keyword cassette, a few surprising ads have "cassette" in them, though I'm not really seeing confirmation of that, just that the word shows up under the "features" section.

Alot of GMC work trucks show up with that and a few luxury brands. I'm guessing it's just lazy salespeople that never updated their ads.

I was joking. The last new car you could get here, with a cassette player was a Lexus.......in 2010!

LOL

I actually had the wife/kids get me this for xmas this year. My 2nd fav band offered it on their site and I thought it was a neat throwback idea. We went to a bar in Nashville in 2019 and they had a wall of cassette tapes, I thought it was cool. I'm thinking of trying to collect some cassette tapes of some classic rock/metal albums.

I thought SS was post-cassette era.

I still have many cassette tapes stashed away, even though I got rid or many of them a while ago. I found another stash and decided to keep it. I need to fire up my cassette deck to see if it still plays. The one I have out in the garage no longer plays CDs or tapes. It was a cheap Garrard I bought from Service Merchandise back in the day. Still plays the radio well, though.

Bolt EV only has usb, or streaming via Sat, or BT, or Android Auto/Car Play. I wish it had a CD player still. Get off my lawn.

Glad I'm not the only one who still likes CDs.

I think it was in 2018 I refurbished a dual cassette deck a coworker left behind when he retired. Yes, we bring in our own audio gear for entertainment purposes. Anyway, along those lines I'm not sure I have the same affinity for cassettes as I do for vinyl and CDs. To me they don't sound as good as an LP while not being as durable as a CD.
