tesla cars will always feel heavy because, well they are. If ICE manufacturers add enough weight to make them equally porky to a Tesla, then they are dumb and deserve to go extinct. ICE cars should not be chasing Tesla acceleration numbers. Electric motors inherently have an advantage at 0mph. Screw that. Make the drive an exhilarating, aural euphoric experience . That is something no Tesla will ever be able to do. Play to your strengths.

Although new bmw interior isn’t much to brag about, I still think it’s better than a Tesla.

Again, different strokes for different folk.
Is there anyway to make these vehicles lighter, without costing a fortune while meeting all the current regulations?

Default 2021 BMW 4-Series Coupe Brochure Leaked Ahead Of June 2 Reveal

Quote:
most of us were enjoying the weekend, images from what appear to be the official brochure of the new 2021 BMW 4 Series Coupe appeared on the Germancarforum revealing the car’s profile and topic-inducing front end with the tall kidney grilles. The brochure also shows the available exterior colors that includes among others, green and orange shades. [Updated 5/31/2020]
-Updated post follows below-

Previously, BMW officially confirmed that the all-new 4-Series Coupe would make its digital premiere this Tuesday, on June 2, 2020. It had attached a darkened teaser of the coupe’s front end with the oversized double kidney grille which we had first seen on the Concept 4 last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The large kidney grille design has already been leaked several times, but we reckon it goes way better with an M3 or an M4, as opposed to something like a 420i Coupe. Luckily we don’t need to wait too long in order to find out if we’re right or not.

Like the latest 3-Series, the 4-Series is also based on the carmaker’s CLAR platform, sharing its entire engine range with its more practical sibling. However, BMW claims that the 4 Series’ chassis has been tuned to deliver significantly sharper handling characteristics while at the same time, offering “excellent” comfort levels on everyday drives and long journeys thanks to the double-joint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle configuration.

Aside from your usual four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel units, that will include the M440i xDrive Coupe, powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine rated at 374 PS (369 HP) and featuring 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, the 4-Series Coupe could also get a PHEV version. Then there’s the M4 variant, which will borrow the X3 M and X4 M’s 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine.

As for the 4-Series’ interior, it will feature the exact same driver-oriented dashboard design and layout as the 3-Series, meaning a dual-screen setup (gauge cluster and infotainment), central air vents and a three-spoke steering wheel. There will of course be less room in the back, seen as how this is a traditional two-door Coupe.

Like all big grilles it's not a thing of beauty and will take a bit of time to get used to. The rest of the lines look pretty good and a blacked out grille may not look too bad. I'm interested in just how quick the M4 will be as the S58 engine is a monster. If it can get a 4500 lb SUV to 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11.6 sec @ 116 mph in a lighter, more aerodynamic car it should get close to sub-3 second 0-60 times.

I think 'Audi' when I see the front of that thing...

I don't like thinking 'Audi' when I look at a BMW.

It reminds me of an Infiniti, and for some reason the big grill makes me take the car less seriously.

The side profile definitely reminds me of Infiniti. The front reminds me of the pigs from angry birds.

i always thought the old BMW 850 was the best-looking car they made ... mostly because it has an UNDERSTATED grille.

At BMW we get our inspiration from strange places.

Unpopular opinion: I think it looks kinda decent and the grille will grow on me. It certainly looks better in higher res photos:

It looks like the cockpit is driver-oriented (i.e. center console being angled towards driver's seat) which is nice too, even if its just slightly.

The rear profile does look very Infiniti, though. The current 3-series looks like a Lexus IS from the rear. It seems that BMW is confused from behind so they just make their grills bigger and bigger as part of their identity. "Party in the front, don't look at the back!"

I don’t like the grill at all, but otherwise it’s a really nice looking CAR. It doesn’t look like a nice BMW regardless of the grill - weird choice on their part.

I hated it until I saw this:

https://www.carscoops.com/2020/06/new-2021-bmw-4-series-coupe-keeps-a-straight-face-while-wearing-m-performance-parts/

It looks wayyy more aggressive than the old one, less 'you can have it any way you want as long as it's vanilla' , and I think I figured out why it bothers me at all: I can't unsee the 7 series with the cascading waterfall of a ginormous kidney grill that'll swallow pedestrians whole. If I put that out of my mind, I can see this as a necessary cooling/performance need. Almost.

Nope, still looks like scheisse - perhaps the aftermarket can come to the rescue with a restyled front fascia/body kit that will fix that abortion of a front end.

I think the issue is that they changed too much all at once. If you took the badges off, I would have not guessed it was a BMW. Good God, I hope they don't do this to the LCI 8 series.
