My gripe for this morning: people on campus who don't stop for me while I'm walking across in a marked crosswalk while wearing a frickin' hi-viz riding suit. They're employees, too, as the only destination down that way is the employee garage or the loading docks, and they weren't going to the latter in their XC60.

You want me to stop so you can cross the road?

Seems like the gripe should be: "My hi-viz suit isn't hi-viz enough and I can't return it to get my money back"

Wife's 2005 92x Linear with 93k miles just broke down yesterday.

No compression in one cylinder. Stuck valve. Valve guide may be the problem. Need to take out the engine, send to machine shop, replace HGs too... blah blah blah

$2500 to repair.

Last year we replaced the tbelt (~$700) and last month put on a whole new exhaust ($1200)

So, after $4400 in repairs, I would probably be able to get about $4500 for it.

I have a tiny splinter in the sole of my right foot. I have no idea how to remove it.

Oh, I am plenty hi-viz.

No camera rig on me today: I usually don't ride with it and it's at GoPro for horizon tilt, still.

A saw-zaw should be able to remove it.

But amputation seems a bit overkill for a tiny splinter.

do what people do around here, keep walking while staring at your phone.
You could also fake being hit. That will wake them up.

Wearing that they probably think they're doing you a favor by running you over.

It doesn't work like that, dumby...you ADD that $4400 onto the value of the car....it's an invested cost.

Damn, how do you make it from paycheck to paycheck?

Gripe:

My brain booted up in "safe mode" today.

I had two cups of coffee and I still couldn't find where I placed my lunch...

While it was in the microwave

Yes, you need a certain number of posts. Just keep posting in OT to get your count up, that's what we all do.
