Does it need to be RC and have a non-defective gimble?

Also, if you put your requirements into a spreadsheet, you would realize there is basically no vehicle that meets those requirements, except maybe a Tribeca or Mazda CX9, both of which don't have manual transmissions. You could get a Forester, but that will feel like a huge step down from the Land Bruiser. Then there's the Volkswagen and Audi wagons, which aren't Japanese and probably have their respective electrical time bombs set in the not too distant future.

Or, instead of trading in the Land Cruiser, why don't you get a summer car? There's probably tons of BRZs/FR-S (or Toyota 86 whatever it's called)

Or, get the new Supra :fapingbanana:

Full_Clip would keep the Land Cruiser and get a FJ or Brocoma for real dirt situations.

Chevy bolt. Sure, it's a little derpy looking but it's a damn riot to drive. There is something to be said about the excitement / fun factor of an all electric vehicle delivering insane power off the line. Oh yeah, doesn't even have torque steer.

I've had that for 2 years and change and my Land Cruiser for over 3 now.

These are good, practical cars. Perhaps I should test drive them and write about them at some length.

We actually had a 2008 Fit in New York from about 2010-2013. It was ok. Felt cheap and was slow, but was practical and certainly not short on headroom or magic interior room with that rear seat setup.

On the CR-V/HR-V class vehicle idea, maybe a CX-3 or 5 would be entertaining. Hmm.

Next answer: Ford Edge. No manual, however.
I actually charged a car to a credit card. I think I've told this story in teh OT around ye olde fireside before: Bought my RX-8 off of eBay Motors and charged the whole thing. Why?

1) Because I could.
2) Cash back (albeit negated by the extra fee that they charged about the same amount).
3) Credit history.
4) Floating the cost for a month until the insurance check from my totaled WRX posted.

:nononocat: to Ford, though.

I have a big noggin and a long torso. Put me in the back of an A7 or RDX, which apparently non-midget people fit into (?) and I have to sit there with my head at about a 45 degree angle just to clear the headliner.

I didn't say it had to be as big as my Land Cruiser. Doesn't need 3 rows, either. I think it's not a unicorn.

I test drove a Crosstrek a while back and don't really like the super swept back windshield/A-pillar deal. Forester profile feels much roomier but it didn't make me fizz a la James May.

My 1/10th scale RC truck does 42 mph currently. I don't need 420 mph, and certainly don't need to roll it 10 times end over end off some sweet jumps...

I was waiting for the Bolt idea. I kind of like it. Old man greenhouse for my visibility and headroom peeves, and it'd have enough range to get to the mountains. The wife's RAV4 EV might be able to eke it out to, say, Winter Park (and could make it up to Snoqualmie from Seattle) but it'd be dicey and generally not fun at all.

I don't think any of the other EVs out there would do it save for a Model 3, and I'll probably have headroom and/or line of sight issues in that one based off of my neighbor's Model X and my prior test drive of a Model S (A-pillar and top of door frame close to head).

4Runners and Tacomas have terrible headroom! I have to crank the seat down in them and then I feel like I'm sitting on the floor with my feet way out in front of me. I don't get the cult appeal, but then again most people are more normally proportioned.
