That's true about most cars. You have affordable models like the WRX/STI, which aren't particularly good at any level. Then you have expensive cars like a Porsche where even the cheap ones are pretty good.

All other cars straddle the line between afford/boring and expensive/fun. A base Lexus IS is pretty cheap, but the only one I'd want would be the new IS500 that's far from cheap.

The problem is that nearly all fun cars are expensive. People are jizzing over the BRZ which isn't particularly good looking or fast, just because there's essentially zero available fun cars for people who don't want to spend a ton. Even a Mustang or Camaro that I'd actually want would be about $50,000 now. Sure the performance is great, but that's a lot of cash.
