Doh. Posted this in old thread.
I had my iron fitting yesterday and while I know "it's the archer, not the arrow", the Ping i210s w/Dynamic Gold shafts went 10 yards further and straighter than anything else I hit. Pretty sure it was the performance loft but they felt so easy to swing and that was with standard (I use midsize) grips. I'll keep an eye out for used ones but they're going to be hard to find since I am lefty and it's a custom set. To make it tougher, I'm getting married this year, but it's better to beg for forgiveness than ask permission right?
After the fitting, I played 18 holes and the problem shots were with my driver and wood. I had a few good tee shots but my irons and short game got me to a 94 which felt OK. I was of course hitting drives straight on the range Saturday, but could not keep it straight as the round went on. I probably tightened up from the practice/fitting and should have been more aware of that.
I'm going to keep it on the executive courses for a while until I can rely more on my longer clubs. My next lesson will again be driver focused but I really need a better feel for the driver.
