Problem And Likely Cause: Car threw a check engine light yesterday (Friday 2/14) morning. Result of code P0172 System too rich bank 1

Modifications: Cobb Stage 1 + (big sf intake)

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes

Reason Given For Denial: Was told that "vehicle is currently modified and thus not covered by warranty"

Your Story: So yesterday morning I wake up to a Christmas tree on my panel. Check engine light, blinking cruise control light, hill assist, etc. I schedule an appt at my local subaru dealership for around lunch time. At my appt they check the code and find the above and then start to look for the cause. Eventually they get to checking the software for upgrades and find that I have a modified tune. At this point they call subaru (guessing SOA?) who tells them that because of the modified tune they are to stop working immediately and return the car to me. They never even find the root cause of the code. ALSO they tell me that my "vehicle factory powertrain and emissions warranty is now void due to modified tuning." They provided me a case number for the "modification form" they submitted to I think contact SOA?

I realize this seems very odd since all I have heard about is people being denied warranty work due to mods but this dealership just told me that not only would they not continue working on the car but that I would need to seek out a third part subaru mechanic to do future work (on powertrain and emmisions items). I still don't know what is throwing the code but I guess that is for me to now discover.

Obviously this sucks since I have a 10 year extended warranty on my car (and yes I realize I was playing with fire by going any stage on my car with this warranty). All of the other components are still covered but anything powertrain and emmisions is no longer. The service manager basically said I should cancel my warranty if this was going to be a big problem.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
not much you can do aside from find an independent shop. i also agree with getting a refund on the warranty. im sure you can find another dealer to work on the car, but you are going to be paying out of pocket for it.
