We have an 85" Sony in the main living room, we got it at BB for 2k, so you do make a good point about that vs a projector, though I was hoping for a 120" screen for that theatre experience.
It’s big $ to do it right with a quality 4k projector and screen. 4-5k for the projector and another few k for a quality screen. And that’s not a retractable screen either. You chintz on the screen then you are defeating the purpose.

It’s much easier and cheaper to get deep blacks and a quality picture going with a panel. 85” is plenty IMO. You then have room to position the seats where you want in relation to the screen. Push them closer if you like sitting in the front rows of the theater. When I used to go to the theater I like being 75% up the stairs. Everyone wants a massive screen these days and it’s just not necessarily. Positions the seats correctly and focus on audio. 7.2.4 and Dolby Cinema is sick.
