In California, the coast and inland across the state doesn't get snow at all.
When a big storm rolls in in the Sierras for example, everyone who Snowboards/Skiis/Sleds for fun drive up on the weekends. Some people just to bring their family up to the mountains to see the snow for the first time for example.
Its COMPLETELY different from dealing with snow in your daily life like in the midwest/east coast. Entire tourism industries exist here just for snow stuff, people even make their living putting chains on peoples cars at check points. You have to experience it to understand it really.
People here own cabins/houses up in the mountains for snow activities too, like around Tahoe and such. My family had one while I was growing up, we would go up there and spend the weekend skiing (during the summer it was also great to go up there to escape the heat). The entire community of houses there was like that.
