Default Rear strut replacement in a 2011 Impreza 2.5i SOHC Hatchback

Hey everyone, Kon is out of town for a couple weeks and I'm looking for a mechanic to change my rear struts. I work as a delivery driver and I hit a bump the other day and one side is making a bit of noise, but it still drives fine.
I'm not sure what the best reasonably priced rear struts are, but I could also use some advice on what the best model of replacement rear struts that fit my car would be. I don't need racing parts, but something a little better than OEM that will last a long time would be great.

I have done a few of my own repairs on this car, I have a flat spot in my driveway in East Van. I have air tools and a compressor, but I don't have a good jack or stands yet. Is this a repair that you would recommend trying for the first time by yourself with the Hayes Repair Manual, or would I be better off spending the money I'd put towards the jack and stands on mechanic labour? I hear some of the new strut assemblies are less dangerous to work with than the older ones.

If anyone has a jack and jack stands and knows what they are doing I would be happy to throw you a few bucks to help me with the job. I'm a pretty fast learner and I'd be happy to help or just watch quietly and hand you tools/beer/whatever.
Otherwise, advice on the best reasonably priced parts for the car that I can buy locally (or on the web with a link) and an introduction to a trustworthy mechanic not too far away would be great.

I'd also be willing to barter and trade for the help if you need guitar or DJ lessons, instrument repairs or something else music related, but I know Sir Robert Borden is king. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
