I helped an electrician pull wires way back in the 1970s. I remember he would get pissed if I didn't make a proper "torpedo". It has to be really smooth and slick, and not too thick or stiff. And we used some sort of lube on the cables.

If a wire got stuck in the chase, we would immediately stop and free it, never get it stuck. Sometimes it helps to pull on the other wires in the same run, from either/both directions.
