One thing the general public seems to have a really hard time with is that viruses do not spread synchronously. Europe and N America are different frikken continents with no contiguous landmass. The initial spikes when this first emerged were separated by weeks and even months of time, around the world.

Europe could be a week (or two) ahead of us on the curve, easily. No one should be drawing ANY conclusions about the relative "size" of the current peaks, while both places are still in the midst of exponential growth. You can't look at the data today and conclude in any way that we are going to have a smaller peak than Europe. Or vice versa. Anyone doing so is feeding you a false narrative. That's it.
