Yes there was a noticeable smoothness in the idle and I got a little better gas mileage. I'm sure on a dyno it would show the gain and probably show a smoother graph. Its a higher voltage which means stronger spark which equates to better fuel burn. Its like going from a regular distributor with separate coil to HEI ignition.
